Dugong
Lodge is a luxury "Safari style" Lodge situated on the coast of Mozambique within
the boundaries of the Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary.
Dugong
Lodge is a half hour boat ride across the clear water
bay from Vilanculos, to which there are daily flights from Johannesburg.
Although not on an island, the peninsular gives the feeling of island living.
The sanctuary covers 30 000 hectares of
pristine marine and wildlife territory, a unique 'Beach and
Bush' experience in a hidden corner of sub tropical Africa.
Dugong lodge has ten luxury frame tented chalets built
on raised decks in the shade of Msasa Trees and Jecka grass
canopies. Each of the luxuriously appointed tents has
an en-suite bathroom, huge feature bath- tub and an outside
shower.
Guest rooms have
two twin beds or one king-size bed and are equipped with
a hair-drier, fans and mosquito nets. All tents open up to
a private patio.
Facilities include
the Bar offering poolside refreshments, the
Lounge, equipped with TV monitor and DVD player, the Fresh
Water Swimming Pool & Boardwalk Jetty.
At Dugong Lodge the tropical island ambiance
and abundance of fresh seafood influence the cuisine. The
Chef specializes in seafood and local Portuguese cuisine.
Activities on offer are World Class Deep Sea Fishing,
Scuba diving, snorkeling in a safe calm bay and sunset
cruises.
Your
stay in the tropical Sanctuary will offer you an unbelievable ‘birding’ experience,
with over 300 species including the charismatic Mangrove
Kingfisher and the Crab Plover. Large flocks of flamingos
and pelicans are a sight to behold.
